Marcia Carr is the DJ’s DJ – an internationally respected selector, vinyl devotee, and radiant force of musical joy whose four decades in the craft have shaped dancefloors worldwide.  A former street and jazz dancer, she brings an instinctive feel for movement to every set, guiding crowds through soulful, jazzy, and deeply rhythmic journeys that weave house, techno, Afro, gospel, disco, broken beat, nu-jazz and more with effortless sophistication.

From We Out Here, Love Supreme, É Soul Cultura, Southport Weekender, Across The Tracks, and Margate Soul Festival to landmark clubs including Fabric, The Jazz Cafe, Ministry of Sound, and Night Tales, Marcia’s warmth, charisma, and high-vibration energy resonate across generations and across borders.

Known affectionately as Marcia DaVinylMC, her revered vinyl-only sets have earned admiration from global icons—house legend Kerri Chandler calls her musical knowledge and taste “one of the most prolific in our scene.” Her radio journey spans the BBC, Rinse FM, Worldwide FM and stations from Miami to Sri Lanka, Greece to Ibiza, affirming her as a trusted curator of soulful, forward-thinking sound.

A trailblazer in every sense, Marcia was the first woman to DJ at London’s Royal Opera House, and has opened for luminaries including Mica Paris, Omar Lye-Fook, Jill Scott, and Annie Lennox.  She is also the founder of the empowering, all-vinyl women’s collective Girlz B Like, now over a decade strong.  Recent highlights include her co-curated compilation Soul Damn Funky Presents New York Dance Classics Vol. 2 (Bassline Records), which sold out its Juno vinyl sampler in weeks, alongside new studio projects, a short film, and releases forthcoming on Girlz B Like Recordings.
